New Bishop Announced
On Monday, it was announced that Canon Paul Swarbrick has been chosen by Pope Francis to be the next (seventh) Bishop of Lancaster.  Canon Paul is a priest of the diocese and is currently parish priest in Workington.  He has served in parishes across the diocese and spent 15 years engaged in missionary work in Zambia.  He is 59 years old so, God willing, we should have him for some time. Bishop Campbell ceased to be Bishop of Lancaster with the announcement but, until Canon Paul is ordained, he remains as Apostolic Administrator of the diocese.  Canon Paul has asked for our prayers:
Heavenly Father, you sent Jesus to shepherd your people and the Holy Spirit to make your people one. Send your Holy Spirit to anoint our new Bishop-Elect Paul Swarbrick, that he may continue the work of renewal in the Church and unite our parishes, priests and people in love, truth and wisdom. Give him a true shepherd’s heart like that of Jesus, that he may give strength to the weak, heal the broken-hearted, console the lonely, bring back the wandering and be a power against the evil of our day. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Five First Saturdays devotion is one of the principal points of the Fatima message. It centres on the urgent need for mankind to offer reparation and expiate for the many injuries that the Immaculate Heart of Mary suffers from the hands of both the impious and the indifferent.
On the First Saturday during 5 Consecutive Months, the Devotion consists of:
1. Going to Confession;
2.Receiving the Sacrament of Holy Communion;
3. Saying five decades of the Rosary;
4. Meditating for 15 minutes on the mysteries of the Rosary.
All this offered in REPARATION for the sins of blasphemy and ingratitude committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
